Welcome aboard

It was almost a year ago when two young PRs decided to head out for a drink one Friday night at Ryan’s Bar in the CBD. Perched among the masses, with a humble glass of wine in hand, a bright idea was born. The very next day, PRINKS burst into existence.

That would have to be the shortest explanation of the history of PRINKS but we’re not here to waste your time!  Rather, this is about launching an exciting new stage in PRINKS’s development – the start of our very own blog.

For those currently scratching their heads needing a slightly more comprehensive explanation of what PRINKS is all about, PRINKS is a communications networking group providing all comms-related professionals and students with the opportunity to connect on- and offline with colleagues.  Whether via our new blog, Facebook page, Twitter or over a glass of wine at our regular networking events, PRINKS encourages all comms folk to share ideas, insights and experiences for the benefit of the communications industry.

In a nutshell, that’s it!  We’ve been blown away and encouraged immensely by the support PRINKS has received to date and we hope this little space on the big old Web will become another valuable resource that we hope to provide. Whether you’re a self-titled ‘PRINKS founding member’ or new to the PRINKS rollercoaster, everyone has played a part in helping us get this community of comms folk off the ground.

It is thanks to you all that PRINKS can take yet another step forward.

And with that may we welcome you all to the new PRINKS blog!  Feel free to explore – don’t be shy, we won’t bite – and please let us know if you have any ideas or suggestions for content.  We have always been an initiative by the people, for the people so what you think matters most.

You’ll notice a few key sections:

  • About PRINKS gives you a bit of info about the group, two of the many founding members and a bit of info on a charity we’re supporting
  • The Job Board is the spot for all job seekers – we’ll be posting all opportunities as they come through to us.  Be sure to check out the charity component here as it’s easy to make a difference
  • Comms speak is a section dedicated largely to students and graduates who hear things they don’t understand!  Please share your questions with us here
  • Events will provide you with upcoming events and activities for you to come along to

We will also have some familiar posts as we go along across a range of interviews, thought pieces, tools to make your life easier, tips for interns, case studies and pressing issues in the comms world so be sure to check in often and see what’s happening on PRINKS.

We hope you find this to be useful in building your knowledge and skills as a comms professional – look forward to chatting with you soon.

Congrats to you both!! A great idea and a testament to your conviction and creativity. Looking forward to catching up for a wine at the next PRinks event.

Hey guys you left me out of the founding members photo but it’s ok, I photoshopped myself in and I think it’s pretty seamless.

Ah Mandi – you do make us laugh! My first question when I look at that photo is ‘Where is our SCUBA gear?’ closely followed by ‘Why am I wearing a suit underwater?’

    Seamless as you say 🙂

Thanks for all your support, guys. We hope this will become a thriving community as we know there are numerous passionate PRINKers out there – here’s the chance to have your say!

  4. Zoe says:

    Well done guys!!
Can’t wait to see what’s in store ahead.
Maybe an underwater Prinks is in order? 😉

  5. Lisa Michalanney says:

Nice work on the extension of PRinks to the blog guys! Loving the scuba Mandi. Looking forward to the next PRinks.
